Chairperson to Embark on Outreach Visits to the Regions

The Chairperson of the National Council, Hon. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, will be conducting regional visits to the Otjozondjupa and Kavango East regions from Monday, 14 February to Saturday, 27 February 2022. The regional visits by the Office of the Chairperson forms part of Outreach Programme activities as set out in the National Council 2017/2018 – 2021/2022 Strategic Plan and aims to enhance public and key stakeholder participation in the legislative process.

The objective of the regional visits is to create awareness about the review and oversight role of the National Council; engage key stakeholders in the regions to increase public understanding of the House of Parliament; and improve the perception of the public on the work of the National Council and its Members.

Hon. Muha’s regional visits commenced in the Zambezi region in October 2021. The public participation initiative will start with a courtesy call on the Governor of the Otjozondjupa region, and will see the Chairperson visit traditional authorities, youth groups and community and members across various towns in the Otjozondjupa region, including Otjiwarongo, Okakarara, Grootfontein and Tsumkwe.

Community Members are encouraged to attend the meetings and participate in the law-making process as per the schedule below. A full programme for week two in the Kavango East region will be provided in due course.
