Namibia joins other members in celebrating Commonwealth Day 2025, which is being celebrated across the 56-member countries.
Under this year’s theme “Together We Thrive,” which underscores embodiment of unity, peace, and the strength of these connected communities whereby all members play an active role to empower each other.
In his remarks, outgoing Dean of the Commonwealth Missions in Namibia & British High Commissioner to Namibia, H.E Charles Moore reminisced his work in the diplomatic service he rendered to the people of Namibia and fellow members of the Commonwealth. “Thank you to my Commonwealth colleagues for their support, friendship and collaboration over the past four years, it has been an absolute pleasure to work with all of you”, he expressed.
The Commonwealth Day message from His Majesty King Charles III was delivered by Prof Peter Katjavivi, Speaker of the National Assembly, lauded the Commonwealth’s ‘’remarkable collection of nations and peoples come together in the spirit of support and, crucially, friendship’’. He lauded how leaders recently reiterated the importance of collaboration for peace and human rights, as well as for the restoration of Nature both on land and in the oceans citing it as an important facet in safeguarding the future of young generations.
