As the 7th Parliament prepares to conclude its term on the 19th of March 2025, paving the way for the swearing-in ceremony for members of the 8th Parliament and the election of the
Speaker and Deputy Speaker on the 20th of March, ahead of the transition, President Nangolo Mbumba delivered his valedictory speech to the 7th Parliament during a special session.
In his remarks, President Nangolo Mbumba urges parliamentarians to remain resilient and continue safeguarding the laws of the country. “As I end my political journey, I want to urge you all to protect this parliament and our sovereign laws for the sake of all Namibians, stressed Mbumba.
Speaker of the National Assembly, Peter Katjavivi thanked members of the 7th Parliament for their commitment for putting in extra hours to complete discussions on pending bills and other items on the order paper and making sure that other tasks on the order paper are finalized.
Out-going leader of the Official opposition party, McHenry Venaani commended Mbumba for providing leadership and direction to the nation during a difficult period.
President Mbumba will hand over power to President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Friday.
