CPA Youth Parliament gets underway in India, 25 November 2019

New Delhi - The 10th Session of the CPA Youth Parliament attended by over forty-one (41) youth parliamentarians from across twenty-nine (29) Commonwealth countries was officially opened by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Parliament of India, Hon. Shri Om Birla today (25/11/2019. The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Youth Parliament is an annual event designed to introduce young Commonwealth Parliamentarians to the role and purpose of democratic institutions and provide good governance.

The National Assembly of Namibia with financial support from UNICEF through the just incepted three-year strategic partnership, has nominated Members of the 5th Children’s Parliament, Hons. Ezegiel Kuhanga and Nephilian Kasuka to attend the event. As part of their roles in parliamentary work, the two young MPs hold leadership positions, that of Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Children’s Rights and Climate Change, Deputy Chairperson of Standing Committee on Gender Equality and Social Welfare respectively.

The official opening ceremony was also attended Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Executive Committee Member, Hon Emilia Monjowa Lefaka, MP, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Cameroon as well as the Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Hon. Shri Ram Niwas Goel.

The event that started today (25/11/2019) ends on Thursday (28/11/2019.
