National Council Holds Committees Planning Session with MPs

After the official opening of Parliament on 13 February, it's all systems go at National Council in the New Year. This week, National Council Members together with Committee Clerks and other support staff held the Committees Planning Session which started on Wednesday, 14 February and concluded on Friday, 16 February. The purpose of the three day event is to enable MPs to review the 2017/2018 activity plan as well as strengthen operations through setting milestones, directives and monitoring the plans for the coming year. In her official opening statement, he Chairperson, Hon. Margaret Mensah-Williams reiterated the President's theme, the Year of Reckoning, as the clarion call for the operations of the National Council, set on the foundation of optimum service delivery.

The Planning Session therefore strengthens MPs’ operations by enabling them to set achievable milestones and monitor progress. Hon. Mensah-Williams further stressed that “as we revisit our Activities for the year 2017, we should be guided by the President’s declared theme for the year 2018, namely Year of Reckoning, in which all elected representatives, are expected to account, with a sense of urgency, on the implementation of planned activities.”
